I first tried to learn this model in a class at a BOS convention, despite the best efforts of the teacher Tom Hull, I only managed to fold a single unit. Fortunately, Tom Hull was kind enough to provide us with some crease patterns, so I tried again when I got home, failed miserably and put the diagram in a draw and left it there for several years. One day, when I was cleaning out the draw, I found the diagram, put it in my pocket, and got the thing photocopied on really large paper. I then attempted to fold the model using the creases shown on the photocopied paper. After a few tries, I finally worked out how to fold the thing.
It's a wonderful model anyway and I'm delighted to be able to fold it. I might not be able to fold it well, but I don't care, and it still looks rather cool when it's photographed on a lightbox.
